What is Botox®?

Botox® is a natural muscle relaxant called botulinum neurotoxin type-A. It is a chemical agent that, when injected into a muscle, blocks motor nerve signals, thus relaxing the muscle and stopping wrinkles from forming.
Botox® has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat frown lines between the eyebrows and to smooth crow’s feet at the temples.

Botox® is very similar to its competitors Dysport® and Xeomin®. Dr. Pickart carries all three products in his office.

How is Botox® administered?

Botox® is administered via a few tiny injections during a 10-minute appointment in our office. Typically within days, you will see a noticeable difference in your appearance.

Botox® is usually given to patients every three to six months, and  is a safe and highly effective treatment when performed by a trained professional such as Dr. Pickart.

Botox® has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat frown lines between the eyebrows.
