Pickart Plastic Surgery

"When I met Dr. Pickart, I felt at ease. I knew that I had found the right surgeon for me... And I was right! My breasts and my tummy turned out perfect."
-Patient R.T., after bilateral breast reductions (with lifts) and after a simultaneous abdominoplasty

"I wasn't sure that I was going to have the hysterectomy at all. But I thought about getting a tummy tuck at the same time... So my gynecologist recommended Dr. Pickart. He's such a great guy. Getting that tummy tuck made the whole experience worthwhile. I never would have gone through with the hysterectomy without Dr. Pickart's tummy tuck. I look great, and I feel great."
-Patient W.M., after a total abdominal hysterectomy and a simultaneous abdominoplasty

Sometimes, Flatter is Better:
The Tummy Tuck

I've dieted. I've exercised. I've tried everything. But I just can't get rid of my tummy.
-Patient S.K.

For some patients, diet and exercise are just not enough. Pregnancies, for example, stretch out a mother's skin and her abdominal fascia (the tough, fibrous sheath around the abdominal muscles). While dieting can get rid of the fat, and while exercise can bulk up the muscles, neither dieting nor exercise can re-tighten the stretched skin or the loose fascia.

A Flatter, Firmer Tummy

Formally known as an abdominoplasty, a tummy tuck is designed to firm and smooth a patient's belly. The procedure removes excess abdominal skin, tightens the fascia surrounding the muscles of the abdominal wall, and may also remove excess fat. The result is a flatter abdominal profile.

Now I look like I did when I was in high school!
-Patient S.K.

There are a variety of techniques for performing a tummy tuck that can help you achieve results like S.K.'s. Dr. Pickart can advise you regarding which one is best for you.

Tummy Tucks & Liposuction

For some patients, liposuction, rather than a tummy tuck, will produce the hoped-for abdominal improvement. For others, liposuction may be performed to enhance the results of a tummy tuck. Dr. Pickart will suggest how complimentary technologies can improve your results.

Generally, a tummy tuck is considered to be a more extensive procedure than liposuction alone, and tummy tucks usually require a lengthier recovery. Dr. Pickart performs his abdominoplasties only in accredited surgical facilities. You'll be put to sleep by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist.

Many men have benefited from tummy tucks too! Men can also inherit loose skin and bulging abdominal muscles, making them perfect candidates for a tummy tuck.

What if you have lost a significant amount of weight? A tummy tuck alone may not be your best solution. If you have undergone a gastric bypass or a laparoscopic gastric band, find out if post-bariatric body contouring is right for you.
